ABOUT US

Bobeka, founded by Richard Hill and Mike Gerkin is a small studio and workshop on the Kent/Surrey borders, dedicated to craftsmanship and construction. Bringing together over 50 years of experience in technical and creative practices from engineering, landscape design and construction at Bobeka we utilise our diverse skills to problem solve and realise each project meticulously from concept through to completion.

Richard brings a wealth of experience in both the private and public landscape sector. His background includes managing and constructing prestigious exhibitions and events including several award winning RHS Chelsea flower shows and BBC’s series “Homefront in the garden”. He has worked for designers and private clients alike in the UK and abroad to produce contemporary and acclaimed schemes. He is known for his attention to detail, and commitment to the design concept, in particular working with timber and metal structures, with endless drive and commitment.

Mike, with a Swedish engineering background, embraces the Scandinavian design philosophy of functionalism, minimalism, and the use of natural materials. His career has taken him around the world, honing a diverse range of manufacturing skills and problem-solving techniques. During his time in the stone industry, he has worked for architects and landscape designers, detailing, and producing complex projects. Mike applies his knowledge of CAD design, CNC manufacturing, product design, project planning, with his diverse background, to bring a unique perspective, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.

Both Richard and Mike share a passion for motorbikes, cycling and the outdoors. Outside of work they can typically be found on a bike ride, a tour or tinkering in their workshops.
